Wild Oaks Homeowners Association is self governing association based on the work a group of volunteers. These are the current standing committees:
Finance
Chaired by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee prepares the budget for the year, based on current expenditures, anticipated increases, and input from other committee chairs. The budget is submitted to the board for approval at the November board meeting. It determines the regular monthly assessment (or “dues”) and any special assessments for the following year. The committee also serves as a consulting body to the Treasurer and the Board on financial matters.
Maintenance
The Maintenance Committee meets several times each year to review, plan, and oversee annual building and infrastructure maintenance and long-term projects (i.e. roofing replacement, large roadway repairs, etc.). The Committee provides a monthly report to the Board on the status of maintenance items and projects.
Landscape
The Landscape Committee makes decisions about landscaping needs for our large property, setting short-term and long-term goals. Working closely with our landscaping company, the committee Chair prepares and manages the annual landscaping budget, submitting monthly reports to the Board. The committee meets as needed, and members participate in volunteer work parties. The Chair arranges for the annual fire hydrant inspection, the property back flow prevention station, and pest control application three times a year.
Green Team
The Green Team oversees all things recyclable. They manage our collection bins (on the middle level) for #2, #4, and #5 plastics and block Styrofoam (things not collected by Sanipac), and they oversee Sanipac’s bins for co-mingled recyclables (paper, cardboard, cans, some plastics), glass, and compost. They provide bins in the clubhouse for old cell phones and some recyclable batteries (lithium, NiCad, silver oxide, mercury, and button). All other batteries (alkaline, carbon-zinc, zinc oxide) go in the trash.
Architectural Review
The Architectural Review Committee reviews and clarifies requests from individual homeowners who want to make additions or changes to the exterior of their unit, areas under HOA control (i.e. roofs, siding, sidewalks, etc.), or modifications affecting neighbors. The Committee recommends the requests for Board approval and submits a monthly report to the Board
Emergency Preparedness
The EP Committee assists Wild Oaks residents prepare for seasonal and catastrophic emergencies, such as ice storms, power outages, wildfires, and earthquakes. Through the WOHA website and newsletter, EPC connects us to vital community resources, including our local neighborhood association, Southeast Neighbors (SEN).
Welcome/Directory
Welcome Committee greets new residents and makes sure they feel welcomed and have all the information they need to become an integral part of our community—including rules and procedures. The committee coordinates with the board, other committee chairs, and residents to keep information up-to-date, including our Resident Directory.
Recreation
The Recreation Committee manages the pool and clubhouse, overseeing regular pool service and any repairs and maintenance. The committee ensures rules are followed; answers questions regarding pool use and clubhouse reservations; and makes sure there’s toilet paper in the bathrooms.
Social
The goal of the Social Committee is to promote community interaction by providing a variety of fun events and use of the clubhouse. We provide monthly movie nights, a weekly craft group and major celebrations of holidays and seasons. Our Bottle Drop account, funded by the donation of returnable bottles and cans, by our residents, supports our refreshment costs for many of these events.
We also maintain a mini-library with the goal of providing something for everyone, from the casual browser to the bookworm. Our non-fiction assortment ranges from history to travel to cooking. The fiction section features best sellers, mysteries, softcover titles and author collections. Books have been donated by residents and friends. Residents also will find a collection of jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, and games available to borrow.
Additionally, an exercise area is being developed in the Ping-Pong area. We currently have elliptical and rowing machines.
